All dogs can run fast but the Greyhound is probably the fastest, which is why there are greyhound dog-racing tracks similar to horse-racing tracks.

They actually run in race tracks but, they can be very good house pets.
Many states have rescue greyhound shelters. Other options include race tracks that adopt out retired dogs on site, animal shelters, and breeders. Breeders may have access to a particular bloodlines that are known for specific canine traits.

Why not? They are generally sweet pets, easy to care for and are beautiful animals. Many race tracks offer adoptions on 'retired racers'. I actually adopted one of the racers so I'm speaking from experience.
