Track is scored in many ways. In a relay such as 4 by 4 and 4 by 8 the winning team gets 5 points that's with all relays. the losing team gets none. in Track and Field events first place is 5 points second is 3 points third is 1 point. That's basically how its scored hope I answered ur question.
There is a formula to assess points in each event of a decathlon. Each result in the individual events has a point value. The potential scores are available in a scoring table book. The table has changed a few times over the years, the most recent table was released in 1985. By the way, the revision was made primarily because of the exceptional advancements in the pole vault between the invention of the bendable fiberglass poles around the 1950's and increased performances from a stable peak of 4.77 (15'7 3/4") which lasted from 1942 to 1957, and then rapidly improved to 6 meters (19'8") by 1985. During those years, good pole vaulters were overwhelming decathlon results.
The athlete with the most points after the 10 events wins.
The prefix of "heptathlon" is "hept-" which means seven.
Men compete in decathlon, women compete in heptathlon. Men do not compete in heptathlon, women do not compete in decathlon.
A heptathlon is a sport, not a shape. It consists of 7 different activities.
A Pentathlon has 5 event and a Heptathlon has 8 events :)

The last event in the women's heptathlon is the 800m run. It is two laps around the track, a paced sprint.
