When and where did sports start?

Sport has existed as long as man has walked upright. No one knows for certain what was the first "sport" but the best bet is that it originated when 2 bipedal males were trying to impress a female with their ability (whatever it was), or were trying to decide in a non-fatal manner who was the best. That probably went on for thousands of years, gradually gaining organization, and became formalized as humans formed civilizations.

Each individual sport was invented by someone else in various places. However, the origin of sports in general can be traced back to the ancient times of the Greeks and Romans.
