Of the current sports, that would be Field Hockey which first appeared at the 1908 Olympic Games. Basque pelota, cricket, croquet, Golf and polo all debuted at the 1900 Olympic Games but over time have been discontinued.
As far as we can tell at the moment, the oldest sport involving a ball is called ÅŒllamaliztli. Otherwise known as Mesoamerican Ballgame.
ÅŒllamaliztli was invented by the Aztecs and is, as far as we know at the moment, the oldest game in the world that uses a ball.
The rules of the game have been lost thanks to the Spanish Conquistadors burning most of the Aztec's glorious history wherever they went. However from wall art and stone carvings, we can tell that ÅŒllamaliztli was about keeping the ball in play, using your hips to hit the ball.
There is a re-invented modern version of this game called Ulama, which is played in the South American continent. Although the rules are very different to the original version of the game, as we have no idea what the rules were for the original.
