Competitive Varsity Mile times are anything under 4:30. You would think that's amazingly fast but I wouldent worry about it. At those speeds, a few seconds of time is a huge difference. Runners at the 4:30 mark are far behind those runners at the 4 minute to sub 4 range. This time is totally obtainable. As a freshman, I ran a mile in 4:56 and ended up only running 4:15's.
To be competitive, anything under 4:35(depending on the region). On average the time will be somewhere around 4:50.
the average time to run the mile in middle school is 9.58

It is estimated to be about a mile and a half to two miles
If your a runner in jr high, high school, or college, THATS TERRIBLE. But, if your an average person in their 30's, its alright.

The record for the fastest mile run the high school track is 3.53.43.
it is very rare to see a high school runner athlete run a mile under four minutes. I personally only know one person who can run a mile under four minutes and that kid won state for XC. To see more results: go check out athletic.net for times and scores for different types of races
If I can run a 4.42 mile what do think I should run in the two mile
