Speaking as a fisherman that is seeking the professional rank, there is a couple ways to do it. Any professional wasn't born a expert. Lots and lots of practice, time, and knowledge must be used to gain any expertise. There are many different classifications. Warm water species pro, cold water species pro, salt water species pro, etc. Stick with what you know best or what you are strong at and focus on that. Once you have "mastered" your skill the next thing to do is find sponsors. Many companies are out there and if you can prove yourself to them they will contribute money to your profession for using their products and wearing their "swag" or gear with their company logo. For them it's all about advertisement. Once you have gotten to that stage, it's on to tournaments and contests. These are country wide and are very challenging. Don't give up though. If you are confident and great at your skill than you can be a professional fisherman.
