1. Ask about current events

While many people can have some very strong thoughts and feelings about current events you can use excellent conversation questions to steer the conversation onto current events like a proposed lottery or local elections that are not as contentious as some others like wars or presidential elections.

Of course, you can bring up these topics as well because everyone has an opinion and great conversations can come from these questions. However, know that some people can get very heated when discussing things they feel especially strongly about.

In these situations simply ease into a different area of current events that is less dramatic, but still a relevant topic by using excellent conversation questions.

2. Ask about sports

Almost everyone has a favorite sports team in at least one sport. It is really hard to find someone who does not like any kind of sport or sports team whatsoever, so sports allow for excellent conversation questions.

At any given time of year there is a sports season in action so you can use excellent conversation questions to start with whatever sport is happening at the moment. If the individual is not interested in Baseball and it is baseball season they might say this and comment on the amazing national championship from the previous College Basketball season.

Regardless, sports questions from "what sports do you play" to "what sports team is your favorite" will elicit answers from excellent conversation questions and get a great conversation going.

3. Ask about universities

Asking about universities is a question that will be appropriate throughout your lifetime. Of course, the topics might change a bit, but you can always use universities as a relevant question.

When you are younger you might ask people about certain universities to help you make a decision, a bit later in life you might ask about universities to find long lost classmates or reminisce, as you age you will then start thinking about universities for you children, grandchildren and the list goes on.

You can always use excellent conversation questions to have a great conversation about universities which can easily lead into a conversation on academics, literature, current events, sports, children, and any other number of subjects simply because they are always intertwined. In fact, asking about universities might be the best way to have a great conversation because there are so many things to talk about.

4. Ask about children

Also, asking about children and their respective lives are excellent conversation questions because people love talking about their offspring. As long as the individual has children you can likely have a very long conversation that can also lead into other topics like daycare, socializing, discipline, and many other topics.

Asking excellent conversation questions is a great way to start a conversation and one of the only ways to keep it going. As long as you know something about the person you are talking to or can ask questions to find out, then you will be able to ask other excellent conversation questions to keep the talk enjoyable and lively.
