No, as of the 2008 Summer Olympics, Cheerleading is not an Olympic event but it is in the running to be one.
nopee....unfortuately not!! but it should be because it is right up there with gymnastics in the competitive and body building sports.
There are rumors going around The Feirce Boards that it will be an exhibition in 2012 and then it will be decided wehter it will be an official olympic sport or not.
There are also some rumors I have heard through friends that pronound cheerleaders Hope Bravo, Meredith Fram, and Kiara Nowlin have their eye on being a part of that team.
According to the president of THE ASSOCIATION OF THE IOCRECOGNISED INTERNATIONAL SPORTS FEDERATIONS (ARISF) an organization in that works directly with the International Olympic Committee (IOC ); whom I messaged directly in reference to your statements here. From his responce to me it appears Cheerleading has NOT been accepted as a demonstration, exhibition, or any other such thing in the 2012 Olympics.
Also the ICU (international Cheer Union); contrary to what it seems to state on its web site, is NOT recognized by the IOC. In-fact it has not even applied to be recognized by the IOC.
Cheerleading is scheduled to be added in the 2016 summer games
No, there are no cheerleaders.
That's not true - there are cheerleaders at the Olympic volleyball games - both indoor and beach volleyball.
NOT ONLY CAN YOU SEE THE CHEERLEADERS WITH THEIR POM POMS DURING THE INDOOR GAMES, but a simple Google search provides this CORRECT answer:
Quoted from NPR:
"The beach volleyball cheerleaders are more like dancers in two-piece bathing suits, which it must be said, are actually a bit more conservative than those worn by the female players. In indoor volleyball, once known as volleyball, spectators were treated to more traditional cheerleaders doing routines you'd find at most high school basketball games.
Waving pom-poms and doing flips in between dances was the cheer squad from Crimson Heat, an English cheer team invited by the London organizing committee to cheer on volleyball. Not any particular tram, just volleyball - at the club's own expense."
There are none?? Cheerleading will not be in the 2012 olympics. Who gave you the idea that they were.
Cheerleading will not be in the 2008 olympic games, it is up for consideration for the 2012 summer Olympics

Matt Bruce Sorry Matt, there certainly are cheerleaders performing at the Olympics, turn on your tv & see for yourself.
The 2012 Olympic Game features 26 sports and a total of 39 disciplines however cheerleading is not one of the sports. Netball is being drafted as a possible demonstration sport at the 2012 Olympic Game in other words the probability of cheerleading to be the demonstration sport is very low. Cheerleading is not even a sport that recognized by Association of the IOC Recognized International Sports Federations (ARISF) so it is a rumor. CHEELEADING IS A SPORT
