a straight Chlorine pool is easy and does not cost much to start with.
Salt (Sodium chloride) water pools are also chlorine pools but they use the salt in the pool to make chlorine using an electrode designed to do that job. however the water can not be reused when back washing the filtration system.
Salt (Magnesium chloride and potassium chloride) work like a normal salt pool only the salt is not harmful and can be beneficial to swimmers as well as the back wash being good for plants in the yard so no water need go to waste.
Ozone requires special equipment but is reputed to be a very good sanitation method without the irritating effects of chlorine.

∙ 15y agoSalt water pools are chlorine pools, the difference is that a fresh water pool has chlorineadded by the operator, while a salt water pool has a chlorine generator that electronically creates chlorine while the filtration system is running I does this by separating chlorine gas out of the salt in the water and dissolving it back into the water. most salt water chlorinator pools use common salt or sodium chloride, which is the same as the salt found in sea water, only at a much lower concentration. A new system is available now that that uses magnesium chloride and sodium chloride, the advantage with this is that it is not harmful to use the backwash for watering the garden and it has a therapeutic effect on swimmers.

∙ 13y agoA SALT POOL IS THE SAME AS A CHLORINE POOL. however, instead of adding the chlorine manually it is manufactured automatically by the chlorine generator. Please read the manual .
Don't tell anybody but I love salt generators. I am a pool remodeling contractor and I make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year repairing the damage these things do. Unfortunately many contractors are now taking them off their pools at home after seeing the damage they do and are now requiring their customers to sign hold harmless waivers absolving them of responsibility for any damage caused by the salt or the generator.Wiki User
∙ 12y agoYes, you can. We have a pool in Crete that uses salinated water. You need a special system that converts some of the salt into chlorine. This means that the water is much less chlorinated than most standard pools. Our system has worked really well through one complete season with temperatures in the high 30's (Centigrade!). You still need the chlorine to some extent as this is the fungicide.
I do not think it appropriate here to push one system over any others, but our originates in Australia, and works really well.

∙ 14y agoDon't know what you mean by how much. How much does it take to bring the level up between 1.5-3.5ppm. You can go to the below link for your information.
Good luck

100m swimming pools are not used - Olympic pools and regional pools are all 50m, with smaller pools using a 25m design. A now obsolete pool used a few decades ago was the 33.3 metre pool, but this is no longer used.

Liquid chlorine for pools is typically a higher concentration solution (10-12%) used for disinfecting swimming pools. Liquid chlorine for drinking water is a lower concentration solution (around 0.8-1.0%) used to disinfect and purify drinking water. It is important to use the correct type of liquid chlorine for each application to ensure effective and safe water treatment.
Water is used in agriculture for irrigation and used as recreation for water sports and swimming pools.
Yes, H2O (water) is typically used to fill swimming pools. The chemical formula for water is H2O, with two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.
Chlorine is used in pools to kill bacteria and other harmful microorganisms that can thrive in water. It helps to keep the water clean and safe for swimmers by disinfecting the pool water.
chlorine is used every day, in everything from pools and our drinking water.
In Olympic swimming pools there must always be 10 lanes. Although only 8 of these are used it still must have a lane rope between each lane, so there are 9 lane ropes used.
This compound is sodium hypochlorite - NaClO.
Calcium chloride is commonly used to increase calcium hardness in pools. It dissolves quickly in water and helps prevent corrosion and etching of pool surfaces by balancing the water chemistry.
