One as far as I know. Because of WW2 there were no games in 1940 or 1944. I don't think he was at the games in London in 1948. Don't know if he competed in 1932. He was the star of the Berlin Olympics in 1936 winning 4 gold medals. Being a black man it rather knocked a hole in Hitlers racial supremacy rubbish. Berlin was his only Olympiad.

In track you generally didn't have a number printed on your uniform. They either give you a sticker or a race paper to attach to your left hip so the judges can see and make it easier to record your time.

In the 1936 Olympics Jesse Owens number was 777. In the 100m race in the 1936 Olympics he narrowly defeated another African-American, Ralph Metcalfe.
