Shizo Kanakuri was the father of marathon in Japan. However, he disappeared during an Olympic marathon run and was asked to complete the run years later. Technically, his run took 54 years, 8 months, 6 days, 5 hours, 32 minutes and 20.379 seconds.
Allowing for rest but not actual sleep, the slowest marathon took 28 hours. It is not known if the runner was injured or just too tired to run for any distance.
For comparison, the women's record by a blind marathon runner is 3.3 hours and in the Paralympics the record is 2 hours 38 minutes.
Lloyd Scott, a former professional soccer goalie from London, holds the record for the world's slowest recorded marathon wearing a deep-sea diving suit, at the 2002 Edinburgh Marathon with a time of six days, four hours, 30 minutes and 56 seconds.
It was run in the 1984 by Kevin Kim of Korea.
My great grandfather Samuel Winston Donald Lee of the Peoples Republic of China, at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics with a time of 1 minute 24 seconds.
