Allowing for rest but not actual sleep, the slowest marathon took 28 hours. It is not known if the runner was injured or just too tired to run for any distance.

For comparison, the women's record by a blind marathon runner is 3.3 hours and in the Paralympics the record is 2 hours 38 minutes.
