Athletes take the Olympic oath to affirm their commitment to fair play, sportsmanship, and the values of the Olympic Games. This solemn promise emphasizes the importance of competing honestly and respecting fellow competitors, the rules of the sport, and the ideals of the Games. By taking the oath, athletes also acknowledge the significance of the event and their role in promoting a spirit of unity and peace among nations.
