∙ 14y agoThe 2008 beijing olympic opening ceremony cost over $100 million. This is about $476,000 per minute and $8,000 per second. This is twice the cost of the 2004 Athens opening ceremony. All I can say is good luck in topping THAT London.

The cost for the opening ceremony, like the games themselves, is spiralling upwards all the time, present estimates vary from 1 million to 10 million. The initial estimate for the games was 5 billion, it has now reached 12 billion. Doubtless this will rise before the games open.
As of 2010, the cost of a court marriage in Accra, Ghana is about GH¢55.000. The cost includes the notice of marriage, registration certificate, and signing ceremony.

At the time of the opening ceremony, Wikipedia mentions £11.5 billions, from the original £2.4B at the time of the bid, revised to £9.3B in 2007. In June 2012, the British government latest report said that it was on track for its planned £9.3B, even a bit under, but a parliamentary committee warns of a total cost that could amount to £10.9B, which include recent additional security costs.
According to the Related Link (see below), the toll on the bridge's opening day (May 24, 1883) was 1 cent: "After the opening ceremony, anyone with a penny for the toll could cross the Brooklyn Bridge." There is currently no toll on the bridge for pedestrians or vehicles.
