To win you need to figure out how to build a body that can sprint, jump and throw weights (among other things) well simultaneously. Usually a winner is an exceptional overall athlete but not necessarily a specialist in any of them. Occasionally a great decathlete can also be a top athlete in a specialty event as well, but that is rare.
