The Olympics started when Princess Hippodamia of Elis had to get married. Her father, King Oenomaus told her that any man who wanted to marry her had to win a race against the team of magical horses given to him by Ares (the God of War). If they did not win the would be executed. Pelops decided to try his luck and as soon as he saw Hippodamia he fell into a bright pit of love. Hippodamia also loved him and bribed the stable boy to loosen on of the nuts on one her fathers chariot wheels. The stable boy hated the King because he had murdered his brother ;instead of loosening one nut he took them all out and replaced them with wax ones. The race started and they were neck and neck, slowly Pelops drew ahead as the wax nuts melted. Then the King was thrown to the ground. The princess was so upset that Pelops decided to hold games at Olympia, with prizes of gold and jewel for the winners. The gods themselves looked down from Olimpia and saw how good the games were. Hermes was sent down with a message that they were to be held every 4 years for heroes and heroines to prove the strength and stamina to mortals and gods alike!

There are athletes from many countries in the Olympics. Which country are you asking about?
The Winter Olympics have been held in the US four times: Lake Placid, New York (1932 & 1980); Squaw Valley, California (1960); Salt Lake City, Utah (2002).

Because the woman were never treated as highly as men. They were in the kitchen and taking care of the house. Not usually seen in an Olympic game. Also, all the men were naked....:)
Through the 2008 Games in Beijing, Uruguay has won 10 Olympic medals (2 gold, 2 silver, 6 bronze). Uruguay's 2 gold medals came in men's football (1924, 1928). Their last medal came at the 2000 Games in Sydney when Milton Wynants won silver in men's points race cycling.
Start. * I'd have to see the pictures to be sure you answered it correctly, but if you did then I'd guess "starting nine" -- as in a baseball team.
The future tense of "start" is "will start" or "shall start".
