It depends on which "modern" religion you are talking about, and in which country.

In most of Europe and in the USA, what is prevalent is either Christianity or Islam, both of which believe in ONE God. The ancient Greeks worshiped multiple gods, which is more similar to Hindu or possibly Catholicism with all of it's saints.
