No he did not. Ares is the God of War and he was a Greek god so many people believed that ares rested in the soul of every spartan man but so may also believed that rested upon mount Olympus.

∙ 13y agoAres was associated with warfare and Sparta was known for its militaristic culture, so he likely appreciated the military strength and prowess of the United States. He may have seen similarities in the warrior spirit and combat capabilities between the two societies.

It was not bad, but most people wanted to be warriors. Every day in Sparta people had to be brave. I believe they had the inspiration from Ares God of War.

I can give you general information about it. Sparta believed in the customary greek gods (Jupiter, Ares, Aphrodite, etc.), but their favoured god was Ares due to their highly war-like nature and rigorous military training. They did not wholly disregard the other gods, merely held Ares as their favoured.
