Limestone is used in the steel industry to purify the steel also it's used in the water industry to soften water ph. Also used in the food industry to preserve foods. There are a lot of uses for this material I should know I work at a lime stone plant (I am a kiln operator) My job is to cook the limestone into Lime and at a high quality for our customer (like co2, good heat rise, good available) at an efficient rate.
