I belive he is still in prison, if I am remembering the movie correctly. Their is a movie that has been out for years titled The Hurricane starring Denzel Washington. I recommend it you are interested in him. New Jersey state prosecutors dropped all charges against Carter and released him from prison in 1988. He had spent 21 years in jail. Carter currently lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and works as a motivational speaker.
