There are "giants" in the sense of "people with gigantism", a medical condition making them larger than typical humans. However, the tallest person ever reliably documented was Robert Wadlow, who was just under 9 feet tall.

The Biblical Goliath is described in the oldest extant manuscripts (for example, the Dead Sea Scrolls version of Samuel) as being "four cubits and a span" which would make him tall, but not a standout in, say, the NBA... about 6'9". In later manuscripts this is emended to "six cubits and a span," which would have him outdoing Big Bob by nearly a foot.
