They started in 1994 in Chicago, and they were known as Brawl, from 1994-1996. At that time the band consisted of 4 members: Erich Awalt-Vocalist Mike Wengren-Drummer Dan Donegan-Guitarist/Leader Steve 'Fuzz' Kmak-Bassist Erich Awalt left after they recorded their first demo tape, and the other three stuck together to find a new vocalist. When David Draimen auditioned, Mike, Dan and Steve started playing a melody, and David began singing his own made lyrics. This impressed every band member, but espcially Dan, the leader. So, in 1996, David joined Brawl, then they changed their name to what we know as Disturbed. In fact, in 2003, after they finished their Music as a Weapon II tour, Dan fired Steve because of 'personal differences' with David. Soon after, they hired current bassist, John Moyer.
