There is not a direct train between Austin and Houston. You have to go to San Antonio and wait 2 1/2 to 4 hours for a connection (depending on which way you are going). If you have to take ground public transportation, you are probably better off taking the Kerrville Bus. They have 5 buses a day between Austin and Houston that take 3 to 4 hours in total.
Houston, Texas has many attractions for families and invididuals to visit. One of the most popular attractions is the NASA center. Houston also has an outstanding Museum of Natural Science. Other attractions include the Children's Museum and the quirky Beer Can house.
Hands down Houston... Cause there is much more to do there, plus it's the 4th biggest city so it has to be pretty special and draws the superbowl like dallas.
