Robinson played 10 years in the Major Leagues, all with the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1947 through 1956. He had a career batting average of .311, hit 137 home runs, had 734 RBIs, stole 197 bases, was named Rookie of the Year in 1947, the first year of that award. He was named the National League's Most Valuable Player in 1949 and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.
