The forward pass is used a lot more now than 50 years ago. The flying wedge is illegal. Pads are larger, people are larger, faster and stronger. In the "good ole" days of football, defense was stressed more. Now, excitement defines the game. Money has changed drastically. I make more now than the average football player made 50 years ago.

Similarities include:

  1. A ball being the main point of play.
  2. Though the goals are different (i.e. one's a net, the other's an endzone), the point for both sports is to get the ball into/across that goal.
  3. Both sports deal with team efforts to win the game.
  4. Both have the title of football.

There are many similarities that can be found between sports in the 1920's and sports today. Both are very spirited and bring people together.
