Terry Fox ran through six provinces during his Marathon of Hope in 1980. These provinces were Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, and Manitoba. He covered a total distance of approximately 5,373 kilometers before he was forced to end his run in Thunder Bay, Ontario, due to a recurrence of cancer.
