1919 -Jackie Robinson was born in Cairo, Georgia on January 31. 1920 -Robinson's family moved to Pasadena, California. 1937 -Jackie enrolled at Pasadena Junior College. 1939 -Jackie enrolled at UCLA! 1942 -He was inducted into the United States Army. 1943 - Private Robinson was commissioned as a second lieutenant. 1944 -Second Lieutenant Robinson was court-martialed for insubordination and was honorably discharged from the Army. 1945 -He joined the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Baseball Leagues. While playing there, he met with Branch Rickey and signed a contract to play for the Montreal Royals, a major league baseball team. 1946 -Jackie married Rachel Isum and soon after they had a son, Jackie Jr. He also played his first game for the Montreal Royals. During 1946 to 1970, Jackie played lots of games. 1971 -Jackie Robinson Jr. died in a car accident. 1972 -Jackie Robinson, Sr. died in Stamford, CT on October 24. 1986 -Jackie was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. 1990 - Jackie Robinson was named man of the year!
