India is worlds second most populous country and one of the most densely populated. It has a population of over 1 billion. However, India is not a sporting power in the world which is also shown by its dismal record at international sports meets like Olympics. India is a cricket loving nation and they have done reasonably well by winning two cricket world cups. Indians however, can not be described as athletic people as sports and athletics are not given due importance in society.
