The city of Daytona Beach, Florida, is named after its founder, Matthias Day, who established the area in the mid-19th century. The name "Daytona" combines Day's name with a nod to the area's coastal location. Daytona is also famous for the Daytona International Speedway, which hosts the annual Daytona 500, a prominent NASCAR race.

Daytona International Speedway is so big a person who attends the race can only see about half of it, and it's cold outside. I love NASCAR but I wouldn't attend the Daytona 500 even with a free ticket.
