Nowdays there are a lot of women in drag racing. However. There is only 1 Queen of drag racing in my mind. She scratched, and clawed, and some would even say slept her way into drag racing, but that's not important. What is, is what she did when she got there. She backed down from no man, in fact challenged the best, she has many firsts in the sport, and some records that still stand unmatched, even today. She had her car burst into flames, and take her along with it, only to come back an step up to top fuel, from funny car. She won the seasonal championship, I think more than once, and turned the drag circuit up-side-down! Shirley Muhldowney, I think is how you spell it, was her name, and any woman in motorsports today owes her for paving the way for current standards. Curious? They made a movie about her, that, as far as I know, is pretty factual. Hoyt Axton, Bonnie Bedillia, "Heart Like a Wheel", is the name of it. Great flick.
