Ferdinand Porsche (1875-1951) was an automotive engineer who designed some of the many cars that bore his name, as well Mercedes-Benz roadsters and the German "Volkswagen". He also designed mechanized vehicles used by Germany in both World Wars. He was imprisoned in France for 20 months in 1946 and 1947 but released and acquitted of war crimes.
