Back in 1933 a man named Myron Scott who was a newspaper photographer for the Dayton Daily News of Dayton, Ohio was convering a story on the topic. In 1934 he bought the rights to the event bringin it to a national-scale.

The first all American race was held in Dayton, Ohio on August 19, 1934, Myron Scott created it. The following year they moved it to Akron, Ohio because of the central location and hilly terrain, 2 years later Derby Downs became a reality.
