Michael Initially retired by the end of the 2006 Formula One season but came back to drive for the Mercedes GP team at the beginning of the 2010 season where he stayed for three years. After the final race for 2012 in Brazil he retired for a second time and is no longer active in F1 racing.

Michael retired from F1 racing at the end of the 2006 formula one season. He finished the drivers championship in 2nd place with 13 points lesser than the defending world champion Fernando Alonso. Michael won 7 out of the 18 races that year. He had a total of 121 points that season when compared to 134 for Alonso. He is currently an advisor and an occasional test driver for Ferrari.
