The current land speed record for a car is 763 mph (1,227 kph) set by UK built TrustSSC driven by Andy Green on October 15th, 1997. It used 2 Rolls Royce Spey turbofan engines that were used in the UK variant of the F4 Phantom fighter jet.

The fasted wheel driven car was the US build Vesco Turbinator which set a speed of 470.98 mph (757.11 kph) on October 18th, 2001. Driven by Don Vesco.

The US built Shelby SuperCars SSC Aero is currently the fastest production car with a top speed of 257 mph (413/6 kph). It achieved this speed on September 13th, 2007.

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport is the fastest accelerating production car it is able to go 0-62 mph (0-100kph) in 2.4 seconds.
