The torque in a car basically means the acceleration and power the engine gives when you floor it, the torque also depends on the RPM (Revolutions per minute) :which is how many times the pistons in your engine go up and down turn the wheels, so if your at 4000RPM and your giving of 500lb ft of torque that means your engine is very strong. Horse power is really how fast your car can go
