Average base salary for a driver is in the $1,500,000 range. Typically drivers also receive 40%-50% of their race winnings. From there add in a percentage of merchandise sales and any endorsement revenue. Dale Earnhardt Jr., who also owns his own race team, had total income for 2005 in the $50,000,000 range.

That's very difficult to say. Their own pay structure is based a lot on part ownership of a car, or wins, top tens, top 5s etc.

Jeff Gordon made millions last year and didn't have a very good year, but he owns half of jimmy Johnson's car and Jimmy won the Nextel Cup.

Once you get to that level, even in your first year, you'll make well over a million, even if you don't win a race. See the Related Link below for more information.

It all really depends. Who you are, your skills, and your experience are all factors in how much you get paid as a NASCAR driver. As a driver who is just starting out, you could have a base salary of around $100,000 with somewhere around 10% of the winnings. The next step is a base salary of around $400,000 to $500,000 with about 20% to 30% of the winnings. The top drivers earn a base salary of around $600,000 to $800,000 with anywhere between 40% to 50% of the winnings. Once this is said and done, there are all the sponsors to talk about. Top drivers like Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. earn around 20 to 25 million dollars per year, from sponsors alone.

Driver salaries are secret and is between them and the car owner. Drivers also get money for endorsement's. I don't know if the owner gets any of that money or not. Sponsors pay an average of twenty million dollars to put their name on a car. This goes to the owner to run the team. Don't forget that Nascar fans are very brand loyal, and Nascar, owners and drivers get a piece of total endorsement sales. This explains why a Nascar sweatshirt can cost 65 dollars.

It depends on the team and the sponsorship. They are contracted. Anywhere between a half a million dollars to 10 million . They make a base salary plus a portion of the race purse.
