He's credited with being the inventor of several different fishing-related things, including the electronic bite alarm (the 'Heron' antenna alarm), and a famous stickleback imitation lure.

He's also credited with 'inventing' the modern-day carp rod with the 'Richard Walker Mk IV (his original hand-made examples are now valued in thousands of pounds!) and he was instrumental in the developement of the carbon-fibre fishing rod. Possibly his most lasting invention was the Arlesey bomb the now standard leger weight with its bomb shaped profile and swivel line attachment.this was developed to fish for perch at distance and depth at arlesey lakes.
