Yes. Due to adding or losing sponsors, the names of certain Nascar race tracks have been changed. A couple of amendments over the years would be (Lowe's Motor Speedway to Charlotte Motor Speedway, and California Speedway becoming Auto Club Speedway).
Nascar has two tracks located in California. Auto Club Speedway is in Fontana and Infineon Raceway is in Sonoma.
NASCAR abandoned North Carolina Speedway to make way for a different track to open. NASCAR will not extend the season by adding more races.
