In the 2007 season, the steering wheel would set you back about $45,000 U.S. Aside from steering the car is has controls which allow the driver to adjust other functions of the car i.e. fuel mixture, radio communications, gear shifting, speed pre-set for caution periods and pit row approach. A couple years ago, a chassis would cost you $300,000, and an engine lease cost about $2 million per year. It's probably higher now.

The lease of an Indy engine is right around $1million/yr...and a chassis will be about the same amount once it's been correctly engineered & fitted w/ telemetry...
