To adjust the chain on a 2000 Yamaha Raptor 250cc, first, place the ATV on a level surface and elevate the rear end using a stand. Locate the chain adjusters on both sides of the swingarm, then loosen the axle nut using a wrench. Turn the adjuster bolts equally on both sides to achieve the desired chain tension, ensuring there's about 1-1.5 inches of slack. Finally, tighten the axle nut and double-check the tension before lowering the ATV.

The size of the chain tightener bolt on a Yamaha Raptor can vary depending on the specific model and year. For many models, it is typically a 10mm bolt. However, it's always best to consult the owner's manual or a service manual for the exact specifications for your particular Raptor model.
The stock chain size for a 2002 Yamaha Raptor 660 is typically a 520 pitch chain. The standard link count is usually 116 links, but this can vary depending on modifications or specific setups. Always consult the owner's manual or a professional for confirmation based on your specific configuration.
To set the timing on a 2003 Yamaha Raptor 660, first, remove the timing cover and ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke. Align the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft; the mark on the camshaft should align with the mark on the cylinder head. Once aligned, check the tension on the timing chain and adjust if necessary. Finally, reassemble the timing cover, ensuring all components are secured properly.
To change the chain on a Raptor 350, first, elevate the ATV securely and remove the rear axle nut and wheel to access the chain. Use a chain breaker tool to remove the old chain, then thread the new chain through the sprockets, ensuring it is properly aligned. Adjust the tension using the chain adjusters on the swingarm, then reassemble the rear wheel and axle. Finally, check the chain's tension and alignment before taking the ATV for a test ride.
Loosen the axle nut and rotate the chain adjuster to the same position on both sides of the swingarm until you obtain the correct chain slack, then tighten the axle nut.
IT'S PRETTY EASY. IT'S 2 BOLTS WITH LOCK NUTS ON THE TOP OF THE CARRIER, AND 2 NUTS ON THE SIDE WHERE THE BRAKE ROTOR IS. JUST LOOSEN THESE NUTS ON THE SIDE AND THE LOCK NUTS AND BOLTS ON THE TOP. SCREW THEM IN IT TIGHTENS OR LOOSEN THEM AND IT LOOSENS THE CHAIN. SOMETIMES I KICK THE BACK TIRES TO THE FRONT IT HELPS IF IT'S BEEN AWHILE SINCE YOU HAVE CHANGED THE POSITION.
