The engine won't run.
The starter will crank the engine over but it won't run.
The crank sensor sends a signal to control the spark timing to the engine. If the sensor goes bad the engine may run rough or not run at all.
Low battery (bad battery or alternator) or bad starter, most likely.
Bad crank bearings . If the crank bearings are bad when the car warms up it will loose oil pressure. The reason being is there are holes in the crank where the bearings are and if the bearings have too much space between the the car will never build up enough pressure the oil will just run past the bearings and run back into the pan
When a crank sensor goes bad one of several things could happen. The engine may run rough, or cut off for seemingly no reason. Or, the engine may not start at all.
A bad crankshaft in a 96 Altima could cause the engine not to start. Depending on the crank damage, the engine could start but not run properly.
