It appears to have the same part number. I compared a 1990 xv750 with a 1986 xv700 and they both have Yamaha part number 3CF-24730-10-00. I have an '86 xv700 so I'm always shopping for interchangeability. I use bikebandit.com or servicehonda.com for their OEM part finders. I can select my Virago and get the part number then start comparing to other models and years of the Virago. Helps a lot with searching online and on ebay for parts.

The answer is 3.3 liters. For the XV750-1100 with filter change. No one should ever re-use filters on these bikes. This bike depends on oil flow to stay cool And lube internal parts including the clutch.
1988-1997 model XV750, each fork tube/stanchion holds 13.4 US fluid ounces (13.9 Imp. fl. oz.; 396 ml) and will need to be 6.1 inches (15.5 cm) below top of tube when forks are collapsed completely and springs removed. 1981-1983 Virago XV750 holds only 9.4 US fluid ounces (9.78 Imp. fl. oz.; 278 ml). Spring lengths should be 20.2 inches (51.3 cm) for '88-'97 model XV750, and are 25 inches (63.5 cm) for '81-'83.
20W40 or 10 W40 motor oil will do. Some use Yamalube, I just use Wal-mart stuff. The engine is almost indestructible.
