If the teen is smart, yes, if not, no. Very simple answer. In other words, don't get one for someone you know is going to try and go off huge jumps right off the bat. If the kid is smart and/or responsible, then I think you'd be safe buying one. It's the same with anything really, from pets to guns. Safe? Yes. If, as stated above, the teenager is smart. However buying one for a teenager might be a bad investment. Just because they grow out of the cc's rather quickly.
