The main FIM dirt bike race classes are the MX1 class, 450cc class where 450cc four strokes and 250cc two-strokes are eligible to race, the other main class is the MX2 250cc class where 250cc four strokes and 125cc(now up to 150cc) two strokes compete.

Less well known is the MX3 class where 650cc four strokes race with 500cc two strokes.

Most production dirtbikes fit into one of these classes, the exceptions being open class bikes like the BMW GS's and HP2's and KTM 990 Adventures and Super Enduros among other manufacturers big touring trailies, and various enduro, trail and fun bikes e.g. the KTM 300EXC, Honda CRF230F, etc.

Can you ride a dirt bike with 50cc in it on the sidewalk in the state of Kansas?

Yes, you can legalize a dirt bike in Kansas. You will, however, have to take the bike to the nearest motor vehicles bureau in your respective city. Once there, a bureau official will inspect the bike to make sure it meets all state riding requirements. If the bike does pass the examination, you will be free to ride it.

In Maine are you supposed to have a driver's license to drive a dirt bike?

By dirt bike do you mean and enduro bike or a motocross bike or some other bike at all? For any bike except motocross bike you definitely need license, and for motocross bike you don't, because you can't ride it on the streets at all... You can only use it in motocross tracks and for that you need to have a special permit...
