What are the various sizes of containers for ships?

It depends on the size of the ship. The largest container ship, Emma Maersk, can carry up to 15,000 TEUs (TEUs equal to 20' container).

There are three sizes that I am aware of. The 20 ft which is really 19'5" long by 7'8"wide by 7'9" high, the 40 ft which is 39'6" long by 7'8" wide by 7'9" high, and the 40 ft (tall) which has the same dimensions as the 40 ft except it is 8' 10" high.
