However, cross comparing scores between different IQ tests is not often considered valid. Also, IQ scores are adjusted by age which creates very odd patterns of scoring since you will not be able to compare one score with another unless the age factors are similar.
For example: Marilyn Savant who was reported to have an IQ score of 228, was a score given on a child's scale. (Her 228 was on the mental status ratio IQ test used for children and is not valid for adult scores). Her adult score is closer to 185 (several points below the highest recorded)
Many famous people throughout history are also given 'estimated' scores based on nothing more than opinion and debate. Albert Einstien is often quoted as having an IQ 'around 160' but there is no credible evidence that he ever took a test to prove this. Sir Isac Newton is often quoted as having an IQ of 190; but the very idea of an IQ test using modern testing techniques had not even been created yet during his lifetime.
Many tests scale down simply for age as well. For example when taking the funeducation test (a popular online test); a person answering 100% of the questions 100% correct will have a score anywhere from 120 to 180 where the only variable is the persons age. So a child with a perfect score is an IQ of 180 where as an older adult with a perfect score is only 120. It makes comparing actual knowledge and intellegence based on IQ scores completely irrelevant.
Results may vary considering different cultures, and tests.
However, there is NO standardized IQ test that has a scaled score over 155. Your verbal and/or performance scores will scale into the 140s if you have every answer correct but your full scale will max out at 155. By standardized test I mean recognized by the American Psychological Association. Standardization is based off the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS). The MABII is an excellent example of a standardized test.
So what is the highest you can score on an IQ test? It depends on the test and whether or not it is adjusted for age. And the results are really only truly valid in comparison to other people who have taken the exact same test in the same age bracket.
Due to the complete lack of accuracy in IQ testing and the inability to compare scores between different tests reliably, even the Guinness Book of World Records discontinued tracking the category.

An IQ score of 300 is not possible on traditional IQ tests, as the highest possible score is typically around 160-200. It is important to consider a variety of factors beyond just the IQ score when evaluating a child's abilities and potential.
