Well...it depends on if they were slaves or not. Slaves, definitely not. Non-slaves, posssible, but not likely. Women then didn't have very many rights and weren't equal to men till abut the 1940's.
Women did not play lots of sports in 1920 like they do now in 2014. Some of the sports women played were tennis, croquet, and some Golf.
