Best Answer

Sand is the ideal for filling in divots because it can fill divots easily, and they can be smoothed easily. Grass seed is usually mixed in with it, so the grass can grow back quickly. It is also very cheap and easy to supply to players.

If you had a bucket that contained a mixture of sand and sea shells how might you use the physical properties of the seashells to separate them from the sand?

One method is to use the difference in density between the sand and sea shells. You can fill the bucket with water and let the shells float while the sand sinks to the bottom. Another method is to use sieving where the sea shells are larger and can be separated from the smaller sand particles using a sieve.
