The clubs are "lofted" higher. That is, they hit the ball higher, so your shots don't travel parallel to the ground as far.

Answer by FutureLPGAgolfer It doesn't matter if they are short or long, I can be having an enormous shaft but has the loft of a sand wedge. It's all about the loft, it has nothing to do with the length of the shaft.
