It's because of the way the are cut. The area near the hole are lower than the surrounding areas, and the rough is even higher. It's like the deeper the water . the color gets darker.Besides, even the best greenskeeper can't avoid an ocassional sunburnt spot, and wild animals can urinate on the course and cause scald maks.
