As of October 2023, the fastest half marathon ever run by a woman was achieved by Ruth Chepngetich of Kenya, who completed the race in a time of 1:04:02 on April 4, 2020, at the 2020 Istanbul Half Marathon. This record-breaking performance solidified her status as one of the elite long-distance runners in the world.
